We designed and built these two awnings for an artistically inclined couple in Alameda. These clients specifically requested reclaimed redwood, which we were able to track down. The roofing boards were left in thier seasoned, reclaimed state, while the rest of the structure utilizes freshly surfaced redwood to show off the grain and color. The octagonal posts on the porch awning are left over from the building of a Japanese-style structure, and tie in nicely with the aesthetic. Now, this window and entry-way are well protected from sun and rain--in style.
