ROUNDWOOD MADRONE FOOTBRIDGES
This project consists of a series of four bridges linking a pavilion structure to a Japanese garden. Each span is a single madrone log carefully selected from the wooded property, split down the middle to follow its curve, and decked with Monterey cypress. Two wedge shaped platforms allow space for sitting and enjoying the surroundings. The footings for the bridges are slow-grown redwood trunks, also felled on site. Custom metal brackets connect the bridges to dimensional redwood beams.
